Happy Birthday to Us!

Sort-IT 20th anniversary

Happy birthday to Sort-IT! 20 years of keeping IT running smoothly!

2023 is our 20th anniversary year. It was actually on 26 March 2003 that the Sort-IT journey officially began.

Congratulations to our MD, Nick Marsden, on reaching this milestone and taking the business from a small seed to the success that it is today.

We’ve got lots of charity/community activities planned for this year to celebrate our anniversary – keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates.

Nick’s journey

Nick has always had an interest in computers and tech. As a teenager in the 80’s, he grew up with the likes of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Acorn Electron and Commodore 64. It’s fair to say technology has moved on a fair bit since then!

He gained an honours degree in Computer Aided Engineering in the 80’s. From 1985 to 2003, Nick worked for numerous big names, including Raytheon, Bentley and Hewlett Packard. From Product & Support Manager to Marketing Manager, he has turned his hand to many roles and his career has taken him to various corners of the world, working for a time in Japan, the USA and Holland.

In 1997 he tied the knot with his lovely wife, Sarah, having settled back in the UK.

How Sort-IT began

It was in 2003 that Nick decided to start his own business, Sort-IT.biz. This came about after helping local businesses on an ad hoc basis with IT issues and realising that there was a big demand for IT support. To most of us, IT is an enigma, but to Nick it just makes sense! And so, for the past 20 years, he has successfully grown the business, working in a multitude of sectors all over the country. The company concentrates its efforts in IT Management and Support, IT Services and Solutions, Cyber Security and Communications, bridging the gap between what companies need to do to be effective and what IT can now accomplish.

The company moved to new offices in the centre of Warwick in 2020 and currently has 9 employees, with many years of collective expertise. We chose Warwick as it is a great central location with excellent transport link. Our engineers are happy to travel as far as needed and we have customers throughout the UK.

But it’s not all work and no play! Outside of work, Nick spent 20 years as an Explorer Scout leader, looking after more than 200 explorers from the ages of 13 to 18. As the leader he ensured that they progressed through scouting awards up to Queens Scout and DofE Gold and was an active supervisor for the DofE Scheme.

He has also represented Warwickshire Scouting at Buckingham Palace with the Gold Award and also at Windsor Castle for the Queens Scout Award.  He is also an active member of his local church and local community helping run fundraising for local amenities.

A special thank you

Being a business owner hasn’t been without its trials and tribulations of course. The business has weathered the storm of the 2008/2009 recession and, more recently, the Covid-19 pandemic. But we made it through.

So, as we embrace our 21st year, we’d like to express thanks to our customers for their continued support. And not forgetting our awesome team for their commitment to always providing the best IT support and customer service possible. After all, a business is only as good as its people.
